Testimonies (2009)
The Lord has shown me this week that I need to spend more time pursuing the Lord and trying to become one with Him. To give up all the bad influences and avoid situations that might lead me to sin. This week I have found that the more work I know the better I feel and closer to God. The more work I know the greater my faith becomes. The Lord has also introduced me to a great number of good people. From the fellow campers to all the counselors, they all are good godly people. The greatest thing this camp has shown me is that I can still do more for the Lord and for my friends. I haven't done everything I can do to help some of my friends. How I feel that I have the boldness and strengthened faith to ask them about Jesus. -Jonathan, 18 (Houston)
I really didn't want to go to camp this year. I was going to be one of the oldest people from my church going and I wasn't excited about being with young girls... But I came, and the first night I really did feel like God was speaking to me... I knew I was supposed to be at camp and God was trying to tell me something. -Stacy, 16 (Texas)
This week at camp, I've received encouragement to pursue Jesus and spend time with Him as I start college with a busy schedule. My senior year at hight school started out awesome - long story short, I got busy and put my relationship with God on hold, consumed with grades, scholarships, and extracurricular activities. I started dating this guy, and compromise started happening. I had wanted to come to camp, but "couldn't" because I had just started my summer job...I knew I needed to get away from the influences to hear God in an audible voice.I text my youth pastor asking if there was a spot open for camp, and someone had just backed out of coming - so I came. I feel a passion that I haven't felt in so long, and though it is only a season, it is only the beginning. I wonder what's next. -Aurora, 18 (Texarkana)
Before this camp I used the word Christian a whole different way. Throughout this camp I discovered the real meaning to being a Christian. It's not just someone who goes to church every Sunday, or listen to Christian music, or reads the Bible. The people that are only doing this are in need of help to become a true Christian. That was me who needed help at the beginning of this camp but because of the speakers, bands and people here, I've discovered what it means to give your life up to Christ, to glorify him in everything you do, and to spread the good news to others so that they may be saved as well. -Ty, 13 (Austin)
I didn't just rededicate my life because I thought I had done this before, but I truly gave my all over to the Lord... All I know is I've never been as close to God as I am now and I trust in Him whole-heartedly. Now, all I have to do is listen to His answer to my everyday prayer. -Leah, 17 (Houston)
