Rachel Hartford- Whitewater Community Church

Even though my girls all came form the same youth group, many of them had just met on this trip. Even still, they had not learned each other’s names during the long trip down from Wisconsin of during the first few days of summer camp. I gathered them together on Wednesday before dinner and spoke to them about how imp0ortant it was to get to know each other so that they could speak into each other’s lives. Then I did some low ropes, group building activities. I did some more of them on Thursday and Friday. It helped the girls to get into situations where they needed to work together and all provide input. I saw some of the girls who usually never talked in our group give their input and fully participate. As the week came to a close, I saw a lot more unity and less cliquishness in the youth group. I encouraged them to stick together as they went home and maintain their new friendships so that they could be accountable.
